Want higher level JV Partners? Make irresistible offers!

Let’s suppose that you want to grab the attention of JV partners who are further along than you are in their online business. How can you do that? Through this post, I’m going to share several strategies that are quite effective and will move your business forward.

To fully clarify this, we have to first mention the concept of the JV partner hierarchy--in other words the As, Bs, Cs and D-level partners. There are different levels of affiliates and this is in no way a character judgment. It simply reflects where you are at any given time in terms of your experience and perhaps more importantly, your reach in the marketplace. A-level players have bigger lists, more followers and so on. D-level players have limited market access. What’s important to understand is that this hierarchy serves the industry because if you know your place, you can work intelligently to get to the next level.

For example, if you are a C-level player you can obviously talk to other Cs and Ds. If you are a B-level, you can easily reach out to Bs, Cs and Ds. You don’t even need to go through complex fluffing and rapport building. In fact, that would be more of a distraction than anything. All you need to do is get on the phone and let a potential JV partner know that you’d like to work with them to mutually promote their product. Their agenda is basically the same as yours. They are looking for people to mail as much as you are.

What we’re talking about here is what you can do to attract a bigger fish than you who can help you with traffic and building your list. I’m going to give you a couple of proven techniques and one that is quite cutting edge.

Here’s a good one. Send a gift via FedEx. When a FedEx gets to someone’s office, it almost always bypasses the receptionist and lands on your target JV partner’s desk. Now imagine that in that FedEx there is a check from you for $5,000 or $10,000 made out to that person. Except that it’s unsigned. You include a letter that says: “Hey such and such--I’m looking forward to sending you this check. I’d love to sign it for you. Can we hop on a call?” This is a great technique because it’s clever, it’s ballsy and it’s an easy way to get someone on the phone with you.

Here’s another one that is a great attention grabber. Send someone $5 or $10 to their PayPal account. When PayPal sends money, that money comes with a notice that shows you that you have received money from a person. Most peoples’ natural reaction is: “What’s this money for?” You can even tweak the message that goes with the money and make the connection to set up a call with them. Everyone pays attention to money they receive from you, even in small amounts.

Here’s a technique that is not for everyone but can truly get you some great results. Offer to pay out 100% commissions. What? Really? To some people this may seem crazy but not so much if you really think about it. If someone sends you traffic, it costs you nothing. If you are delivering a digital product, it costs you virtually nothing to deliver. In other words, that JV partner that mails for you is building your currency and building your list for you. Yes, you won’t make money on their first promo with you if you pay our 100% in commissions, but how much will you make in the future through having all those new people on your list? Not only that, from a psychological standpoint, it makes it easy for someone to say “yes” to you. You are coming from an abundance mindset and a bigger player will be more likely to help you out. While this may not be for everyone, it has proven to be quite effective many, many times.

At the end of the day, it’s all about finding ways to establish relationships with other JV partners. And in that process, a little creativity can go a long way.
